Close to the Chevrolet Camaro, the Firebird was released in 1967 and its sports variant Trans Am was decorated with a “Firebird” on the bonnet from 1973. A victim of the oil crisis and anti-pollution standards, the V8 had to decrease its power: the 7.5-litre 345 hp in 1970 became a 6.6-litre 188 hp in 1975! This 1977 model year, however, reviewed its power up to 220 hp SAE.
