Ferdinand Porsche designed the VW Beetle. Then he created his own brand, under his name, imagining a sports car based on the Beetle. That is how the 356 was released in 1948. In 1955, the tear-drop shaped 356A received a curved windshield, bigger bumpers and a more powerful engine. It was produced until 1959, when the 356B took over.

Traditionally, the GT3 RS is released near the end of the development of a new 911 range, before its facelift. The 991 Series, launched at the end of 2011 and restyled at the end of 2015, received a high-performance variant at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Recognizable by its huge spoiler, this rear-wheel drive, 185 kg/408 lbs lighter than a Turbo S, is equipped with a 4-litre (500 hp).

The R version of this 911 type 991, initially launched at the end of 2011, was released in March 2016. Based on the GT3, it borrows its naturally-aspirated 500 hp 4-litre from the GT3 RS and receives a 6-speed manual transmission, whereas both the GT3 and GT3 RS only offer a automated gearbox. This very radical 911 is a few kilos lighter and the subject of a limited edition of 911 units.
